PROCEDURES FOR DUCT CLEANING

All interior surfaces of supply and return ducts will be opened, utilizing partial disassembly (end cap removal, section removal, etc.) as well as installation of frequent access holes as necessary to facilitate entry into the ducts by trained mechanics. After opened and entered, all interior surfaces of supply and return duct will be vacuumed to remove dirt, soot and contamination deposits.

All vacuum equipment is equipped with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters. Following cleaning, opening shall be covered with sheet metal, caulked and secured with sheet metal screws so as to be air-tight. (Trunks that are too small to be entered or that extend vertically through unaccessible space will be cleaned with self-centering augers).

All diffusers, grills, integral dampers, return and supply registers will be removed from the duct, washed with a cleaning solvent at a remote location and reinstalled in the duct.

Care will be taken when cleaning fire dampers not to damage or close dampers. Care will also be taken when cleaning firestats, smoke detectors, temperature controllers and any other in-line sensors not to damage same. All fire dampers will be left in open position.
